Estancia Huechahue
Argentina

Estancia Huechahue, a working cattle ranch in Argentina, covers 15,000 acres in the foothills of the Andes, sometimes known as the Patagonian Steppes. The estancia lies 1,000 miles south west of Buenos Aires, 45 miles east of San Martin de los Andes. Huechahue is privately owned and managed by Jane Williams, who is British and married into an Argentine family.

Activities at Huechahue revolve around adventures on horseback whilst exploring the remote landscape, galloping across water meadows, climbing the rocky hills to Indian burial sites and eagle and condor lookouts, and helping the gauchos with the property's herd of Hereford cattle. Always the Andes rise up behind and the vastness of Patagonia stretches out in front.
A stay at Huechahue can include a pack trip into the high Andes and the dramatic scenery of Lanin National Park; or longer trips across the Andes to Chile or from Estancia to Estancia and once a year 3 week endurance trip from Andes to Atlantic.
